The ruins of Raglan Castle stand proudly against the skyline of the small Welsh village of Raglan, in the county of Gwent. The building of this castle began back in 1435 when Sir William Thomas started work on the Great Tower, with its very unusual hexagonal design. This tower became affectionately known as ‘The Yellow Tower of Gwent’.
After the death of Sir William Thomas, the construction of Raglan Castle was continued by his son William Herbert, who later became Lord Herbert of Raglan. It was Lord Herbert who was mainly responsible for completing the construction in the early 1450’s. Read some more about this castle by clicking HERE
